Connect Omnisend to Otengo
Sync your Omnisend SMS marketing consent into Otengo, so voice campaigns only call the customers who opted in.
What this does
Otengo places phone calls to your customers — abandoned-checkout, win-back and other follow-ups. Those calls need the customer’s permission.
Connecting Omnisend lets Otengo read which of your contacts opted in to SMS marketing and record that in its own consent ledger. Voice campaigns then only ever call people who agreed to be contacted, and opt-outs you receive in Omnisend flow through to Otengo automatically on the nightly sync.
The connection is read-only. Otengo never creates or changes contacts, events or campaigns in Omnisend.
Before you connect
- You need an Omnisend account. Any Omnisend plan works.
- You’ll be asked to approve one permission, contacts.read, on Omnisend’s own screen.
- Anyone on your Otengo team with access to campaigns can connect it; the connection belongs to the store, not to the person.
Connect Omnisend
- 1
Open Marketing platforms in Otengo
In Otengo, go to Settings → Marketing platforms. You'll see a card for Omnisend.
- 2
Click Connect Omnisend
This opens Omnisend's sign-in and permission screen in a new window.
- 3
Approve the contacts.read permission
Sign in to Omnisend if you're asked to, then approve access. Otengo only requests permission to read contacts — it cannot change anything in your Omnisend account.
- 4
You're connected
The window closes and the Omnisend card shows “Connected”. Otengo runs a first sync and then refreshes every night.
Confirm your opt-in covers phone calls
An SMS opt-in is not automatically permission to phone someone. Before any contact synced from Omnisend can be called, Otengo asks you to confirm that the opt-in your customers agreed to also covers phone calls. Your signup form should say something like:
“Text or call me with news and offers. Calls may use an AI assistant.”
You confirm this in the same card, by ticking: “I confirm that the marketing opt-in my customers agreed to covers phone calls, including calls made by an automated or AI voice assistant, and that my store is the data controller for these contacts.”
Until you confirm, Otengo still syncs the consent state, but no contact is marked callable. You can withdraw the confirmation at any time.
Syncing
- Otengo re-reads your Omnisend consent state every night.
- Sync now on the Omnisend card runs it immediately and tells you how many contacts opted in and how many opted out.
- A contact marked subscribed in Omnisend is recorded as opted-in; unsubscribed is recorded as opted-out; a contact who never subscribed is skipped. Otengo keeps the consent timestamp from Omnisend, not the time of the sync.
Disconnecting
Click Disconnect on the Omnisend card. Otengo revokes its access token and stops syncing. The consent records already collected stay in your ledger — they are your record of who agreed to what, and when — but nothing new is pulled from Omnisend until you reconnect.
What Otengo does with this data
- Consent state is stored in Otengo’s consent ledger in the European Union and used only to decide who a campaign may call.
- Otengo never sends your data to Omnisend, and never shares customer data with data brokers, ad networks or analytics providers.
